Construction to Begin on Drainage Improvements on Reveille and Rocky River

The City is about to start the construction of two important drainage projects that are in the City’s Drainage Master Plan.  A contractor hired by the City will start both of those drainage improvement projects on Reveille Road and Rocky River Road on or about (Tuesday) September 4th.

The first project includes improving an existing drainage ditch from about 308 to 312 Reveille Road then installing drainage pipe underground in the street from 312 Reveille Road to Rocky River Road and then west on Rocky River Road to about where the wastewater lift station is located.

The second project will be to increase the capacity of the drainage pond (typically referred to as Lake Reveille) that is located between 107 and 201 Reveille Road.  Increasing the capacity will be accomplished by digging out a significant amount of dirt from the existing pond—allowing it to hold more water during heavy rainstorms.

The contractor will work to minimize the disruption to residents and others that drive on Reveille and Rocky River, but there will be times where one or both of the roads will have one lane closed in order to allow the work to be completed and to protect the workers and those driving on either street.  During those times, flaggers will be present to direct traffic safely around the work areas.  There will also be a 24-48 hour period where Rock River will be completely closed between Westlake Drive and Reveille Road.  Once the contractor knows when that closure will take place, another call will be sent out so that everyone can plan and prepare for that closure.

We hope that the project will be completed by the end of September, but that will depend on the weather and a number of other factors.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience as we complete this important work.  If you have any questions about the project, please contact City Administrator Robert Wood at or by phone at (512) 327-3628.
