Mass Notification System

Several years ago, the City of West Lake Hills implemented a mass notification system that will allow us to send a recorded message to all residents and businesses within a matter of minutes. It is used to contact residents in the event of an emergency or to pass along other useful information regarding city services and events. Often called a “reverse-911” system, the technology allows the City to quickly notify the community about important developments such as severe weather, utility outages, missing persons, gas leaks and wild fires. The system’s secure database can store up to ten phone numbers and ten e-mail addresses for each person on the list, notifying them with a voice message, email, and text message if desired.

The system was “pre-loaded” by the vendor with a list of land lines when it was first deployed, but that process did not include cell phone numbers or email addresses so we encourage you to click on the link below to add that information for you and your family members. Your contact information will remain confidential and will only be used by the City and the company providing the service for the purposes stated above. Your information will not be shared with any other parties.

To update your contact information in the system, click on the “One Step Notification” button below or call Mark Littrell at (512) 327-3628. When you sign up, you will be asked to create an account using your email address and a password.  Once you enter the portal, you will have the opportunity to add your email addresses and phone numbers under the "Contact info" tab.  By default you will be signed up for emergency messages.  If you would like to also receive outreach (non-emergency, but important) messages, please be sure to check the outreach box under the tab marked "Subscriptions".
