Special Note from Water District 10: For purposes of responding to leaks, WD10 discourages using the valves in meter boxes as it does require a special tool and is difficult and costly to repair if broken.  Ideally, homeowners should preemptively locate their homeowner valves (located 12-18in from the meters in their own smaller valve box) as they, more importantly, do not require a tool.
